ABOUT STONEHOUSE

WE ARE CHRIST FOLLOWERS DEVOTED TO MAKING MUCH OF JESUS AND WELCOMING ALL INTO TRUE COMMUNITY AS WE EXTEND THE LOVE OF GOD TO A BROKEN WORLD. NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE OR WHERE YOUVE BEEN YOU ARE WELCOME HERE WITH YOUR FAITH, YOUR FEARS, YOUR DOUBTS AND YOUR QUESTIONS. AS A CHURCH WE WANT NOTHING MORE THAN TO REPEAT THE CALL OF JESUS FOR ALL TO COME AND KNOW HIM.

VISION

"WE SEEK TO BE A GOSPEL-CENTERED COMMUNITY RESPONDING TO THE BEAUTIFUL TRUTH OF JESUS AS WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS, SEEK THE WELFARE OF OUR CITY AND JOIN GOD’S GLOBAL MISSION. "

GOSPEL: COLOSSIANS 1:15; HEBREWS 1:3; 1 CORINTHIANS 15:3-4

ITS ALL ABOUT JESUS. HIS STORY AWAKENS US AS THE TRUTH OF ALL THINGS IS FULLY REVEALED THROUGH HIS LIFE, DEATH AND RESURRECTION. THIS IS A STORY OF GRACE, A STORY OF REDEMPTION. WHAT WAS ONCE CREATED IN PERFECTION, BRINGING GLORY TO GOD AND FULFILLMENT TO MEN HAS BEEN BROKEN BY SIN. BUT SIN IS NOT THE FINAL WORD, GRACE IS. THIS STORY IS FILLED WITH HOPE, IT SPEAKS THE TRUTH TO OUR HEARTS AS IT SHAPES HOW WE SEE GOD, OURSELVES, OUR CITY, THE WHOLE WORLD. THE GOSPEL WILL ALWAYS BE OUR ESSENTIAL NARRATIVE AND THE FOUNDATION OF ALL THAT STONEHOUSE CHURCH EXPERIENCES, PURSUES AND DECLARES.

COMMUNITY: 1 JOHN 2:9-11; ROMANS 12; MATTHEW 18:15-20; GENESIS 1:26

GOD HAS EXISTED FROM ETERNITY PAST AS FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT - THE TRINITY EXISTS IN PERFECT, HARMONIOUS AND GLORIOUS COMMUNITY. THE GOSPEL TRANSFORMATION WE EXPERIENCE RENEWS THE IMAGE WE WERE MADE IN AS IT CREATES AND REDEEMS COMMUNITY. RECONCILIATION WITH GOD PRODUCES DESIRE AND ABILITY TO RECONCILE RELATIONSHIPS AS IT MOVES US INTO PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHERS FOR THE FAME OF JESUS. CHRISTS CHURCH IS A PEOPLE, A PEOPLE AWAKENED AND REFORMED TOGETHER BY THE GOSPEL AND EMPOWERED TOGETHER BY THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR MISSION. LIVING IN COMMUNITY MEANS WE MAKE CONNECTING WITH OTHERS INTENTIONAL AND THE POWER OF CHRISTS RESURRECTION MAKES IT REDEMPTIVE.

MISSION: MATTHEW 28:16-20; JEREMIAH 29:4-7; JOHN 17:15-19

BEING REDEEMED INTO COMMUNITY WITH GOD AND HIS FAMILY MEANS THAT WE ARE REDEEMED TO LOOK OUTWARD, BEYOND OURSELVES, TO THE NEEDS OF THE WORLD AROUND US. WE ARE UNITED WITH CHRIST IN GODS REDEMPTIVE MISSION TO RESCUE AND RESTORE THE WORLD TO HIMSELF. JESUS WAS THE ULTIMATE AND PERFECT MISSIONARY AND WE FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE OF INCARNATION BY RUNNING TO THE LOST AND DYING WITH THE GOSPEL OF JESUS AS WE REFUSE TO SIT STILL AND RECOIL FROM ENGAGING WITH OTHERS. WE SEEK TO BE IN THE CITY FOR THE GOOD OF THE CITY AND THE FAME OF JESUS CHRIST. THE GOSPEL LIBERATES US AND THE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS US TO DO LIFE SIDE-BY-SIDE WITH OUR NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES AS OUR LIVES BECOME THE SETTING FROM WHICH GODS GOSPEL SHINES.

MISSION

"WE EXIST TO DRAW ATTENTION TO JESUS BY TRACING THE STORY OF THE GOSPEL AS IT AWAKENS, REFORMS AND EMPOWERS THE FULL LIVES OF HIS DISCIPLES."

THE GOSPEL AWAKENS: REVEALING THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD AND THE TRUTH ABOUT HUMANITY.

THE GOSPEL REFORMS: AFFECTING THE WAY WE LIVE AS WE RESPOND TO WHAT JESUS HAS DONE FOR US.

THE GOSPEL EMPOWERS: MOVING US OUTWARD BY THE HOLY SPIRIT TOWARD REDEMPTION OF ALL THINGS.

CORE CONVICTIONS

1. GOSPEL CENTRALITY - ITS ALWAYS ABOUT JESUS, THE CHURCH IS HIS; GRACE REIGNS BECAUSE OF HIS LIFE, DEATH AND RESURRECTION. GOD, THROUGH CHRIST, IS RECONCILING THE WORLD BACK TO HIMSELF. (LUKE 24:44-49; ROMANS 1:16, 3:21-26; 1 CORINTHIANS 1:18, 15:3-4)

2. COMMUNITY - RECONCILED TO GOD MEANS RECONCILED TO OTHERS, BEARING THE IMAGE OF THE TRINITY. CHRISTIAN LIVING IS IN PARTNERSHIP W/OTHERS. (MATTHEW 18:15-20; ROMANS 12; 1 JOHN 2:9-11)

3. MISSION - JOINING GOD IN HIS REDEMPTIVE MISSION IN ALL THE WORLD. FOLLOWING JESUS, THE GREAT MISSIONARY GOD; IN THE CITY FOR THE GOOD OF THE CITY & THE FAME OF JESUS. (MATTHEW 28:16-20; JOHN 17:15-19; 1 PETER 3:15; JEREMIAH 29:4-7)

4. DISCIPLESHIP - THE CHURCH IS CHRISTS BODY, COLLECTIVELY AND INDIVIDUALLY WE PROGRESSIVELY LOOK MORE LIKE HIM. (MATTHEW 28-19-20; EPHESIANS 4:11-16; 2 TIMOTHY 2:1-8; TITUS 2:11-14)

5. BIBLICAL AUTHORITY - SCRIPTURE AS OUR HIGHEST AUTHORITY, WATERING DOWN THE TRUTH OF GOD AS REVEALED IN HIS WORD IS NOT AN OPTION (MATTHEW 28:20; 2 TIMOTHY 2:15, 4:1-5; HEBREWS 4:12-13)

6. AUTHENTICITY - CHURCHINESS HURTS EVERYONE, GRACE FREES US TO BE OPEN AND HONEST, TO HUMBLY REJECT RELIGIOSITY AND EMBRACE CHRIST. (MATTHEW 23; ROMANS 14; 2 CORINTHIANS 4:2; COLOSSIANS 2:16-23)
